Tonight is the night for a song,’ thought Snufkin. ‘I’ll think up a new song that is one part anticipation, two parts pining for spring, and the rest a joyous declaration of how wonderful it is to be alone and at peace with yourself.

Helsinki, 14 degrees

This week has been so inspiring and exciting! I've visited two new restaurants, gone on a business trip to Stockholm, Sweden and today I did something exciting concerning my future (that I'll fill you in on if I'll get some good news concerning it in June)! Again, what had made this week exciting has been the people! I've had the pleasure to get to know new inspiring people and the motivation kick they've given me is just amazing! So a big thank you shout out to all the wonderful people that I've met this week: you make life worth living! But nothing would be possible without the endless support I get at home! So thank you, you know who you are!

I promised you some pictures of my outfit of last week: the timeless combination of white jeans and a jeans shirt! I'm seriously in love with this combo!

There are no mistakes, no coincidences. All events are blessings given to us to learn from.

Helsinki, 19 degrees

Like I mentioned in my last blog post, last Saturday was a super busy day with lots of happenings here in Helsinki. In this blog post I'll take you with me and show you what my Saturday was all about! Summery Saturdays are the best: they bring a warm breeze to the city, they smell of flowers and the provide sunlight until late, right now about 10pm!

There comes a time when you have to choose between turning the page and closing the book.

Helsinki, 20 degrees

What a Saturday we have in front of us! The IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship offers us a semifinal between Finland and Sweden (and those are the best ice hockey games ever!), there are lots of events in Helsinki (the Restaurant Day and the Arabia Street Festival to mention a few) and then there is the highlight of the spring season - the Eurovision Song Contest!

Those of you readers that know me well, know that it's an annual tradition in my family to watch this song contest together, I have been raised that way, so for me it's a huge and happy event that I look forward to every spring! Back in 2007 when we hosted the event here in Helsinki I even worked as a volunteer to get a close look at what happens during the event behind the scenes! Will you watch it?

Lately I've been fascinated by book clutches. I first stumbled upon one on The Glossy Mag's Facebook page, and then when I made some research I noticed that they're everywhere and come in all kinds of exciting forms! The most known are probably the ones of Olympia Le-Tan. Have you already looked inside these covers?

It is almost impossible to watch a sunset and not dream. At sunset nature is painting for us... day after day... pictures of infinite beauty.

Helsinki, 15 degrees

As the days become longer (right now we have a stunning 17 hours of daylight in Helsinki), it seems we've skipped spring and gone directly to summer! The summer season has definitely started in Helsinki, with the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship and other thrilling events taking place in the city. It feels bubbly and exciting, and everybody is talking about summer plans already. I can't believe Midsummer will be here in just a month, how is that possible? Time seems to fly right now! The city has become busy again after the long winter, and almost all my evenings are filled with summer season kick off parties and other kind of program. Clothing wise there is nothing that says summer more than mixing two colors: coral and turquoise / mint that is! Resembling a beautiful summery sunset, these two colors have got under my skin!

Something about glamour interested me. All my schoolbooks had drawings of women on terraces with a cocktail. Beautiful terraces where you can sit and dream..

Helsinki, 15 degrees

Last Wednesday I got a real surprise when I came home after a long work day. My boyfriend had surprised me with taking the first steps towards decorating our balcony! Ever since we moved into our new home last October, we have left the balcony to "our spring project". However, because of lack of time, we still hadn't done anything do it. Nevertheless, we had several times discussed our common dreams and ideas for the balcony. We both want to create a cozy balcony with a table and a sofa corner, as well as at least one terrace chair. It's quite spacious for an urban balcony, about 2m x 3,5m. Do you want to see how it looks right now?

Nature is a mutable cloud which is always and never the same.

Helsinki, 18 degrees

Lately I've been wildly inspired by nature. This week we've had almost 20 degrees in Helsinki, and it's been amazing! I've had the chance to experience stunning sceneries here in Helsinki as I've visited a hotel located in Eastern Helsinki close to the beautiful sea and a restaurant located on an island in front of the city center. But most of all I've been caught by the sky. Do you ever look up at the sky and start to daydream? I don't know about you, but I could watch cloud formations forever..

There are only diamonds in the whole world, diamonds and perhaps the shabby gift of disillusion.

Helsinki, 7 degrees

This lazy Sunday I find myself daydreaming of no other than The Great Gatsby. As the release date of this movie inches closer-and-closer, my excitement over the 20s trend seem to get higher and higher. I've also finally come across the 3rd season of Downtown Abbey, which happens to be set in the same glorious decade. Inspired by the Jazz Age, I've put together a collage of accessories that fit the 20s trend and I'll introduce two purchases I've recently made.

It is not good to look at the clouds or your work will not progress.

Ever since I went to the Maya III exhibition at the Didrichsen Art Museum here in Helsinki with two of my friends back in February, I've been inspred by Mesoamerican patterns, particulary Aztec prints.  The exhibition presented the dualistic world view of the Maya Indians in which life, death and time are intimately intertwined. Particular attention was also paid to the exceptional precision of the Maya calendar and the measurement of time.

Picasso had his pink period and his blue period. I am in my blonde period right now.

Helsinki, 11 degrees

The second day at work with my new hair look was amazing; days like these really make me realize why I love Helsinki so much! During this clear blue sunny day I was lucky enough to enjoy a Food Sightseeing Tour by Food Sightseeing Helsinki, Kickbiking Tour by Kickbike and Sailing Ship Tour by Fregatti! How cool is that? One can easily say that Helsinki showed her best qualities today, and truly made me look forward to the summer season! In Helsinki when we talk about the summer season, we intend May-August. Since I knew that we were heading to a sailing ship in the end of the day, I dressed to the occasion wearing a striped blazer jacket.

If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things in nature have a message you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive.

Helsinki, 11 degrees

Can you believe we've reached 11 degrees already? Helsinki has had its first true spring weekend this weekend since the sun has been cheering us up the whole weekend through by its presence! Both on Saturday and Sunday we were woken up by birdsong, how wonderful is that? Inspired by the clear blue sky that I've missed so much and now have refound, I put together an electric blue outfit, have a look!

I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.

Helsinki, 6 degrees

Since we had a lot of snow last winter, and it still hasn't melted away and given room for spring to arrive, we've had a rainy week this week in Helsinki. I stumbled upon this ad by Dove, which has been circulating on the social media plan and I thought I would ask your opinion about it. Have you seen it?

There must be quite a few things that a hot bath won't cure, but I don't know many of them.

Helsinki, 5 degrees

What a relaxing weekend, just what I needed! For our 3rd anniversary, me and my boyfriend headed west, about half an hour from Helsinki - to Långvik Congress & Wellness Hotel! Have a look and see what our weekend was all about!

Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.

Helsinki, 2 degrees

This week I've been daydreaming about spring haircuts because of my upcoming appointment with my hairdresser in about a week. Lately I've gone mad about should length / long bob haircuts. As I've told you earlier, I definately plan to still go blonder. Starting out some two year ago with as good as black hair, the blonding process has been long, but I'm tired of my so called ombre hair color and this time I want to have a shock reaction, something completely new. If you've missed my blonding process, you can see a recap of it here. Here are some photos of the look I'm going for.
